As Thanksgiving is right around the corner, people begin making plans to meet their family and see their loved ones that they may not have seen in a while. The smell of good food and happiness is in the air. While typically Thanksgiving is celebrated with an assortment of traditional “American” food, like turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and vegetables, for multiracial and multicultural families, there is a different reality. A multiracial family has parents and family numbers from different racial & ethnic groups, meaning that there is a good chance they have different types of food as well.
Thanksgiving has evolved from just being a time to eat Turkey, to being a time to just make food that makes you and the people around you happy. For multiracial and multicultural families, they may not only have one meal, but two different meals, and these meals have the possibility of being totally different from each other and from the typical American meal. Overall, Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate being with family and embracing your culture surrounded by loved ones. From the bottom of our hearts, the team at HumSub GlobalTEEN wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
