Alicia Keys, born and raised in New York City, is of Italian, Irish, and Scottish descent on her mom’s side, and African American and Puerto Rican descent on her dad’s side. On her multiracial identity, she has said that she feels very comfortable with it because she could "relate to different cultures.” In recent years, Keys has spoken out about racist incidents she's faced and has said that her white mother was often mistaken for her manager or babysitter when she first started performing.
