March 19th, 2021: Famous Fridays - Meghan Markle

Hey Everyone! Today for Famous Fridays we are featuring Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex!

As you all may have heard about recently, Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, did an interview with Oprah Winfrey in which they shared many details about their lives at the royal palace before leaving. Markle, who is biracial (Black & White), expressed how she felt the older members of the royal family were racist to her because of the color of her skin, and even allegedly expressed worry over the potential color of her baby with Prince Harry. It is extremely disappointing that Meghan had to go through this experience because of her race, but it has allowed more media paying attention to both of a woman of color and a multiracial woman. As the mixed-race population of the United States and the world continues to grow, we at HumSub GlobalTEEN can only hope that racially mixed people are accepted more and more, and we will do our part in engaging in representation and dialogue of this community.
